Autumn 2 - Week 1
This week in Active Learning time, our Herons have extended their learning from their lessons into the different areas; inside and outside of the classroom. We have been using the playdough we made in our topic session, making gingerbread men and manipulating it to create different effects. We have also been creating patterns using a range of resources, looking at colours, shapes and positions, extending on our Maths work. Extending on our Phonics work, our Herons have been playing a CVC game on the laptop and Interactive whiteboard, working together to read and match words and pictures.
Autumn 2 - Week 2
We have shown some fantastic teamwork in our Active Learning time this week, working and playing together. We have been playing hopscotch outside, working together to draw and write the numbers needed and then showing each other the different ways in which they can move. Inside, the children have been working together to play a patterns game on the Interactive whiteboard and using the laptop.
Autumn 2 - Week 3
In between our Wriggly Nativity rehearsals, we have had some inside and outside Active Learning time. We have extended our learning from our Maths lessons, looking at shapes around the classroom and exploring shapes through play. We have identified 2D shape names and properties and have been looking at how we can use shapes in the construction area.
Autumn 2 - Week 4
This week we have been very busy rehearsing for our Wriggly Nativity performances and due to the horrible weather we haven't been able to have much outside Active Learning time. However, this will never stop Heron Class! We have still had lots of fun, using the different areas around the classroom to extend on our learning through play. Some of use have been helping Miss Elliss to make paper chains, ready to decorate the classroom with for Christmas - we even used our knowledge of patterns to create patterned chains!
Autumn 2 - Week 5
We have been so busy in our Active Learning time this week! Our Herons have been getting into the festive Christmas spirit, using the Christmas Post Office role play area to;
- Write letters to Santa
- Write letters to the Elves
- Write and send Christmas cards to our friends and family
- Draw Christmas pictures.
We have also been making our very own Christmas themed pictures, using pom poms and matchsticks to recreate Jesus' manger and a stable for Mary and Joseph. We have had lots of fun exploring the new Christmas themed resources around the classroom.
