Autumn 2

Autumn 2 - Week 1

This week in Topic we have been looking at the story 'The gingerbread man'. We learned all about ginger and identified it using our sense of smell from a range of spices. We then manipulated a range of materials to create playdough using the different spices.

Autumn 2 - Week 2

This week we have continued our learning of 'The Gingerbread Man'. We wrote our own shopping lists and went to Tesco for our trip to gather the ingredients to make our very own gingerbread men. We had a tour around the Tesco bakery to look at different tools, methods and roles within the bakery used to make the different foods. We then used our ingredients bought to mix together, roll out, cut and bake our own gingerbread men. We then designed our decorations and used smarties and raisins to add buttons and eyes. They looked very yummy!

Autumn 2 - Week 3

This week in Topic our learning has been focussed around our new traditional tale 'Goldilocks and The Three Bears'. We have been looking at the perfect bowl of porridge that would be 'just right' for Goldilocks. We planned our perfect bowl of porridge in Literacy by describing the texture and taste and deciding what topping we would use. We then used our plan to make and taste our very own perfect bowl of porridge. We chose either; raisins, sprinkles, syrup or sugar for our topping.

Autumn 2 - Week 4

Oh no! Goldilocks has broken Baby Bear's chair!

This week, Heron Class designed and made a new chair perfect for Baby Bear. We discussed how this would have made Baby Bear feel and how we could make him feel better by being kind friends and helping him to create a new one. We worked as a team and used a variety of creative resources to make Baby Bears new chair special for him. We also designed a new bed by decorating a box, just right for Baby Bear to sleep in.

Autumn 2 - Week 5

This week we have performed our Wriggly Nativity performances! We had so much fun and we all did a fantastic job singing, dancing and saying our lines.

As well as our nativity performances, this week we have also been looking at a new traditional tale; 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We compared Giants from different stories, recognising similarities and differences and then we created our own giants by painting a picture. We discussed the colours we used and described our giants.

We also had Caterpillar Music, French and PE this week - we have been very busy!
