In Chestnut Class we love to find out about different places around the world. We have a giant world map on the wall of our classroom so we can begin to find out where different countries are located.
In Spring Term we Skyped with an elementary school class in Ohio, USA. The children there were older than us, and had written short presentations to tell us about some of their different class pets. The best part was, we got to see lots of their pets which were most reptiles as well as some fish and insects, during the Skype call.
We have a partner class at a school in Ireland, and we were very excited to receive a package of Flat Friends, that they had made and posted especially for us. We had one each to look at and we talked about the children who might have made them and what school life in Ireland might be like. We are soon making our very own Flat Friends to send back. If your school would like to work with us on this kind of project please get in touch!
Each week Madame Blood teaches us French. We are developing authentic French accents because Madame Blood is French, although she now lives in the UK. We learn about different cultures and celebrations, as well as beginning to develop our vocabulary and understanding. From Year 3 upwards, there is a French residential open to all children, so we are learning lots in preparation for this.
This term our topic is the seaside. We will be finding out all about a traditional British seaside holiday, and would love to know about what coasts and seasides are like in countries all around the world. We are hoping to connect with some different classes to ask questions and find out more about this. Again, if you would like to work with us please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
