Welcome to Parakeet Class

Picture 1

Welcome to our class page. We are 30 enthusiastic and eager to learn Year 1s at Norbridge Academy in Worksop. We will be using this page to share our learning adventures and celebrate our achievements.

SMSC Day

On Friday 12th October children from Year 1 took part in a planned SMSC day where they celebrated belonging and the beginning of creation.

Throughout the day children took part in many activities which enabled them to understand how they belong in the extra curricular groups which they are part of and how others' believe that they belong to religious groups. The children created their own family trees to show the people who are important to them, as well as looking at religious items and researching who they may belong to.

Harvest Celebrations

On Tuesday 2nd October all of the children from Norbridge Academy performed a selection of Harvest themes songs for their friends and families. The children from Parakeet Class performed the song Autumn Leaves Are Falling Down and put on a wonderful show. We would like to extend many thanks to all those who were able to join us and make our celebrations a huge success. We would also like to say thanks for the generous donations which will be greatly received by Bassetlaw Food Banks.

London's Blogging

On Monday 24th September children from both Year 1 classes took part in a themed blogging day, celebrating the city of London. As part of our Bright Light, Big Cities topic children have been learning all about life in our capital city. We have compared our immediate environment to that of London and thought about other features such as famous landmarks. During our celebration we also thought about the things that we would do if we were a King or Queen for a day. Take a look at our ideas on our class blog http://parakeet2018.norbridgeblogs.net/ and class Twitter page to find out more @parakeet_class

Poppy the Parakeet

Every week Poppy the Parakeet chooses a child from our class to spend the weekend with. Before planning her adventures Poppy looks for children who have shown great effort and determination throughout the week. Over the last five weeks in Parakeet class Poppy has chosen children who have impressed all of the adults with their amazing attitudes towards learning as well as being wonderfully kind friends.
