Autumn 1 - Week 2
This week we have been introduced to our new focus text; Once upon a Raindrop. During session one we looked at the front cover of the book. We then discussed our own thoughts about what the book may be about. In session two we recapped our previous learning around adjectives and described the picture created in our own mind as we listened to part of the story. During session three we took part in a independent writing activity using our knowledge of creating high 5 sentences.
This week we have begun to think about representing and counting amounts. We have used our knowledge of place value within 10 to sort, count and represent amounts of objects in different ways.
This week we have begun to revisit sounds and learn new ones within our groups. We have used our knowledge to write these sounds, say them clearly and use these during Fred talk games.
This week we have begun to think about who celebrates what and why? We have thought about the things that we celebrate within our own families and discussed how these are similar and different to the others in our class.
We have also visited our new school library where we listened to a story and chose books to take home. We had the opportunity to use the new outdoor classroom on our school field where we discussed the things that we would like to achieve whilst we are in year 1.
