Autumn 1 - Week 3
This week we have continued to explore our focus text Once Upon a Raindrop. We have used the illustrations within the book to influence our descriptive writing. We have also continued to think about ensuring that our ideas make sense; using the high 5 sentence technique.
- Capital letters
- Fingers spaces
- Full stops
- Use your phonics/spellings
- Check that it makes sense.
This week we have continued to think again about place value within 10. We have built this weeks learning around counting forwards and backwards as well as finding one more and one less. Children have been encouraged to use manipulatives such as number tracks and lines to identify and name numbers, whilst taking part in activities counting on and back.
This week we have been introduced to our focus artist; Vincent Van Gogh. We have researched work produced by the artists and have begun to create our own.
This week some of our Year 1 children chose to stay at school to attend our Wild in the Wind blogging event. Whilst here we created wind socks based on our learning around wild weather. We then used our class blog to create a set of instructions so that you can make one at home! http://parakeet2021.norbridgeblogs.net/
