English

This week in English, we have been using similes and adjectives to create a character description. We based our description on the character from our class focus text, Journey.

Maths

This week in Maths, we have been looking at adding one and one less, using numbers beyond ten, spelling the word name for numbers and using tens and ones.

Science

This week in Science, we have been looking at using everyday materials. We watched the Three Little Pigs and had a go at making a house out of paper and a house out of bricks. We then discussed the positives and negatives of each material and discussed which one was the most successful and why,

PSHE

This week in PSHE, we have been exploring negative and positive emotions. We thought about a range of emotions and when we have personally experienced these emotions. We talked about emotions we enjoy having and ones we don't enjoy having and how we can mange these feelings.

### WC 22.11.21

English - This week in English, we have been learning to use adjectives and similes in our writing to describe a setting. We described a page from our class book, Journey and completed an Independent Write to show all our ideas.

Maths - This week in Maths we have been looking at recognise and naming 2D and 3D shapes. We sorted shapes using a range of features such as dimensions, sides, colours and shape.

Science - This week in Science, we have been identifying different materials and their properties. We did a quiz about what we might do with different materials. We then played ‘Odd One Out’ using three different items from around the classroom.

R.E - This week we looked at how a Humanist would teach about kindness and right and wrong. We listened to a video about Humanists and then discussed some scenarios and what choices a Humanist might make

### WC 15.11.21

English:

During this weeks English sessions children have continued to experience letter writing. They have used their knowledge of the pronoun I to describe the things that they have seen, heard and found on their adventure/journey.

Maths:

This week children have developed their subtraction skills and have begun to find the difference between two numbers.

Science:

This week children have begun to think about everyday materials and how they react to other materials in the environment. They have begun to think about magnets and which type of everyday materials attract and repel a magnetic force.

PSHE:

This week we have been learning about Anti-bullying week and Children in Need. We talked about kindness, how we can be a kind friend and how to help prevent bullying. We wore odd socks on Monday to show how we celebrate our differences.

### WC 01.11.21

English - This week during English, we learned about the features of an informal letter. We researched facts about Christopher Columbus and used drama and hot seating to get into character to help us write from his perspective in first person. This will help us next week when we write a letter from the view point of Christopher Columbus.

Maths - This week we have been focusing on addition. We have focused on using concrete objects, using part-whole models, and number lines to add.

Science - In Science we have been looking at different materials and their properties. We played material snap and then used a range of descriptive words to talk about their properties.

History - In History this week we started our learning on explorers. We found out about Christopher Columbus and thought about the different items we would need if we were going on a long journey.

Art - This week we thought about Bonfire night and created a bonfire night picture.
