We will be using the knowledge we have learned about the Vikings and books we will read to provide inspiration for our writing. By the end of the term we will produce the following written pieces.
- A narrative
- A recipe
- A kenning poem
- A non-chronological report on the Viking Era
This term we will be learning about place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, and fractions.
We will be learning about the properties and changes of materials this term. This includes the following:
- Compare and grouping everyday materials based on their properties.
- Compare and grouping everyday materials based on their response to magnets.
- Know that some materials dissolve in a liquid.
- Observe changes over time.

Our topic for this term is the Vikings and will be learning about the Anglo-Saxon, Scot and Viking invasions of Britain between 450AD and 1066.
This term, the children will be learning about invaders and settlers. This means locating and naming the seven continents, explaining how resources impact on where people choose to settle, and taking part in a walk around Worksop to record information about the human and physical features of the town.
There will be two topics covered in RE in Autumn term: Inspirational People in Today's World and Beliefs and Questions. We will be looking at the following key questions to guide our learning.
- What can we learn from great leaders and inspiring examples in today's world?
- How do people's beliefs about God, the world and others have impact on their lives?
The artists we will focus on in Autumn term will be Adam Hale and Alan Williams. We will produce a portrait of a Viking worrior and a mythical Viking dragon made from craft metal.
We will be learning about food and nutrition in DT this term by making a seasonal soup fit for a Viking.
This term we will be learning about computer systems, searching and video production.
Children will learning skills in athletics and dodgeball this term.
With our specialist music teachers, the children will be learning how to compose a song that includes versus and a chorus, write lyrics and a melody, and arrange a song to include dynamics, structure and contrast.
This term, we will be earning about the feelings and emotions of anger, the changes during puberty, and being responsible by looking out for others.
