Autumn Term
During their first days children will be supported in settling and becoming familiar with their new environment. Children will take part in adult directed sessions enabling them to understand and participate in following our school routine. They will also travel around our school, getting to know new adults and exploring their surroundings.
Enquiry Question - What do you want to be when you grow up?
Reading - Understand the five key concepts of print: print has meaning, print can have different purposes, we read English text from left to right and top to bottom, the names of the different parts of a book and page sequencing.
Writing - Labels, names. Children may write some or all of their name.
Phonics - Fred talk, sharing stories and rhymes, building sentences through communication.
Communication and Language - Are you too small for school?
Maths - Counting songs and rhymes (numbers to 5 and 10). Counting, size, pattern, time, identifying the numbers 1,2,3,4 and 5.
Physical Development - Develop movements such as balance, go up stairs and climb apparatus. Show a preference for a dominant hand, use one-handed tools and equipment, for example, making snips in paper with scissors.
