Science

This term we are learning all about different types of rocks. For your task, I would like you to go on a rock hunt in your garden or collect some rocks when out on a walk. Try to find at least 5 rocks that look different. 

I would now like you to test your rocks' permeability. Permeable means the rocks allow water to pass through it. 

 

Drip a few drops of water on each rock.

If the water runs straight off, your rock is impermeable.

If some of the water soaks in, your rock is permeable. 

 

Can you identify what rock type you have found by matching them to the rocks in the pictures on this page.
