English Lessons

WB 22.3.21 - English

 

This week, we wrote some recipes in our English lesson. We began the week by exploring the different features by looking at examples of recipes and finding key features, such as imperative verbs. At the end of the week, we worked with a partner to read our recipes and apply our editing skills. We identified different features and used our purple polishing pens to up-level our writing. WB 15.3.21 - Writing Film Reviews

This week, we wrote our own film reviews for the science-fiction movie, Back to the Future. We worked hard to include the following features:

  • A wide range of sentence types
  • Varied punctuation
  • Exciting vocabulary choices
  • Technical language
  • Opinions and justifications
  • A summary of the key events

WB 8.3.21 - Identifying Different Genres

 

On Tuesday, we discussed different story genres. We then worked together in small groups to identify the settings, key features and key words of different genres. At the end of the week, we enjoyed watching 'Back to the Future' and gave it a star rating. Next week, we will be writing our own film reviews.
