Foundation 2 Long term Planning Overview
Our Learning Intentions
The Blue Penguin
This week we have started our new topic, ‘Would you rather live somewhere hot or cold?’ We have been reading the story, ‘The Blue Penguin’ by Petr Horacek and the children have made predictions on what they think might happen in the story and thought about how the characters might feel living in their cold climate.
This week in Sandpiper class as part of European languages week we have been learning all about Spain. The children have learnt Spanish phrases, looked at Spanish foods and even had a go at Flamenco dancing.
In phonics this week we have been focusing on the sounds g,o,c and k. The children have applied their phonic knowledge by making cvc words , matching initial sounds to pictures and writing sounds.
This week the children have taken a real interest in shapes and so we provided them with paper and 2D shapes which the children then used to draw pictures of their houses.
Our first week in Sandpiper class
This week we have started our, ‘In the woodland’ topic we have discussed the different animals who live in the woods and written descriptions about them. In phonics we have looked at the phase two sounds s,a,t and p and done activities to help us recognise those sounds. In Maths we have focussed on the numbers 3 and 4 and practised making these amounts using different objects.
