Foundation Subjects

DARE Roleplay- Non-Verbal Language

During this week's DARE lesson, we learned about the differences and importance of verbal and non-verbal language. In pairs, we used body language to convey a feeling, and the other person in the pair had to try and guess what that feeling was.

PSHE- Global Warming Awareness

In small groups, we acted out scenes which depicted a variety of scenarios involving ideas about electricity consumption, energy saving and global warming.

WWII Job Roles

In history, we each received a letter which revealed our job roles during WWII. The job roles included: Air Raid Warden, Munitions Factory Worker, Farm Worker and Factory Worker.

Science

This week we have introduced our new topic which is electricity. We have familiarised our selves to the main components of a circuit and have labelled diagrams show our understanding.

PSHE - Global Citizenship

Today we discussed how we can be a citizen on many levels by looking at examples. We defined the terms ’local citizen’ and ’global citizen’. We summarised that a global citizen engages with the world in which they live in a responsible way, for the good of all across the globe and for the good of the environment.

DT Day - Anderson Shelters

Today, we continued our learning about WW2 and learnt about the use of Anderson Shelters. We discussed how and why Anderson Shelters were used and the impact they had on the survival of people during 1940. After that we thought carefully about what a WW2 garden would look like. We used our DT skills to help us plan and create our own model of what we thought a WW2 garden would have looked like thinking about materials and how to work with the different materials.

Human Rights

Today we have reviewed our understanding of what human rights are in society today. We then learnt that human rights have not always been as they are now and that over the years, ideas about human rights and the respect people have for these has changed. We then read historical facts and discussed how this view on human rights has changed and why.

Computing

Today in class we identified ways that we can keep ourselves safe when chatting online and what we think we should do if someone says or asks something that we are not comfortable with. After this we created posters to help people who are using the internet to stay safe.

Art - Poppy Drawings

In art we have been looking at how to draw and paint poppies. We carefully looked at the outline shapes of the poppy petals and tried hard to create our own. After that we thought about how to paint and shade our poppies.
