Half-term homework
Your time to choose!
OPTION 1:
Next half term we will be learning all about Italy. Can you create a fact file or a leaflet which talks about all the most exciting and interesting parts of Italy?
You could think about the different landmarks, the food that Italians eat, the clothes they wear, the music they listen to, or even try learning some of their language! There are some great apps available to help you do this.
OPTION 2:
We have been creating sculptures using wire and clay this half term. Could you create a sculpture of a Roman soldier using a different type of material? You could recycle old materials from home such as bottles and cardboard to help create your sculpture. Don't forget to decorate it!
Things to think about: the size of your sculpture; the position your soldier is stood in; how you are going to add colour.
House points will be awarded for children that complete their homework.
Have a great half term!

Remember to stay safe! Electricity can be very dangerous. Always turn the switch off before unplugging something, and ask an adult for help.

Geography - Climate change
This week in Geography, we have identified ways that we can take action against climate change.
We have discussed different ways of taking action:
-
• Raising awareness: sharing learning about the human impact of climate change with others.• Campaigning: asking decision makers to do what they can to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support communities to adapt to climate change.• Going green: individuals, schools and communities taking action to reduce their own emissions.• Fundraising: raising money for charities working against climate change.• Raising awareness: sharing learning about the human impact of climate change with others.• Campaigning: asking decision makers to do what they can to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support communities to adapt to climate change.• Going green: individuals, schools and communities taking action to reduce their own emissions.• Fundraising: raising money for charities working against climate change.
We then planned out the steps to achieve one of these methods for taking action!
We would love it if you could further this at home and show us how you are doing your best to fight climate change. You may wish to take a photo and post it on twitter or write about what you have done on our class blog.

Science - States of Matter
This term, we have started our new topic in science - States of Matter. We have been learning about the properties of solids, liquids and gases.
This week, we are looking at how some materials change when they are heated and cooled.
For your Science experiment we could like you to investigate what happens to chocolate when it is heated (on a hob, in a microwave, in the sun or in your hands).
- How does the state of the chocolate change?
- Why do you think this happens?
You may want to do some cooking with chocolate as part of your experiment (E.g. make cornflake cakes)
Further questions to investigate:
- Do some types of chocolate melt quicker than others?
- Do different types of chocolates melt a different temperatures?
We would love to hear about your experimenting at home. Why not tweet us a photo or write what you've found out on our class blog?

Poetry
In English we have been learning how to write our own Cinquain poems about leaves. For your homework, we would like you to write a Cinquain poem about anything of your choice. Here is a reminder of the rules for writing a cinquain poem:
Cinquains are five lines long. They have 2 syllables in the first line, 4 in the second, 6 in the third, 8 in the fourth line, and just 2 in the last line. Cinquains do not need to rhyme, but you can include rhymes if you want to. Here are some examples:
We would love to read your poems on our class blog. Or you may wish to write your poem in a diamond shape and decorate around it. We can't wait to read your poems!

Calling all Norbridge Eco Warriors!
Next week is #RecycleWeek2020.
We know many of you are already great at recycling at home and in school. To promote this message, we are holding a whole school competition. All you have to do is design your own Recycling logo to go on the recycling bin in your classroom.
Create your designs at home and then tweet a picture so they can be judged by our School Council. Make sure your design is bright and bold so it stands out for all of your class to see and to prompt them to recycle their waste. You may wish to personalise the logo to match your class bird. Please tweet your logos to your own class and @NorbridgeEco by Friday 25th September. We cannot wait to see all of your fantastic logos!
