At Norbridge Academy, we follow the White Rose Maths scheme of work in Foundation Stage 2, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. The purpose of White Rose Maths is to:
- Enable children to build a deep understanding, confidence and competence in maths.
- Support learning and progress.
- Create resilient mathematicians who become independent and reflective thinkers.
- Build skills and strategies that can be applied across different subjects.
By planning maths lessons using White Rose Maths, we aim for a more direct approach to teaching, where children access a range of both practical and written activities to support and extend their learning across the different areas. At Norbridge Academy, we aim to teach children with concrete, pictorial and written/abstract examples of mathematical strategies.

In Foundation Stage 1, we follow the guidance published by Development Matters. Children secure their understanding of number and mathematical language through practical activities, continuous provision and play. There is a focus on children's individual needs and children's learning is supported and extended through adult-led activities.
