What was life like in the earliest civilisations?

What happened to the Ancient Egyptians?

 

Focus Texts: 

English:

In Spring Term 1, we will learn how to write instructions to teach people how to carry out an art activity and how to write an affective story setting. In Spring Term 2, we will write non chronological reports on the Ancient Egyptians and the Egyptian Cinderella to inspire writing story narrative. 

 

Maths:

This term in Maths, we will be learning all multiplication and division, fractions, diameter and money. 

 

Science:

This term, we will look at the life cycle of plants. We will explore how water is transported around the plant, the key parts of the plants and seeds, flowers and leaves. 

 

History:

In Spring Term 1, we will explore the four Ancient Civilisations, what time they were around and how they compare to each other and Ancient Egypt. In Spring Term 2 we will focus on the Ancient Egyptians and the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb and their ancient alphabet. 

 

Geography:

This term we will be learning about rivers and the water cycle. Focussing on the river Thames and the Nile and their key differences. 

 

SMSC:

In SMSC, we will be learning about thinking positive and ways in which we can encourage countries to live more peacefully. Explore political differences and how our systems now compare to those in Ancient Egypt. The children will also take part in World Book Day, Children's mental health week and Internet Safety Day. 

 

RE:

During Spring Term 1, we will be exploring the religion of Judaism and Christianity. Their differences and the places of worship. In Spring Term 2, we will be looking Islam and Hinduism, the similarities and differences and their places of worship.  

 

PSHE:

In Spring Term 1 we will be looking at staying safe and making choices about our safety. Staying healthy focussing on medicines and fire safety. In Spring Term 2 we will be thinking about staying safe online and what to look out for when making friends online and also what we can do to look after our world. 

 

Art and Design:

Our art focus in Spring Term 1 is the Willow Plate. We will use clay to create a plate inspired by the pattern and ancient civilisations. In Spring Term 2, our focus artist is Kimmy Cantrell, we will be using clay to make Egyptian masks inspired by the artists work. 

 

Design and Technology:

In Spring Term 2, We will be designing and making an edible garden.  

 

Computing:

In Spring Term 1, we will be learning about online and internet safety. In Spring Term 2, we will be learning about presentation skills. 

 

French:

During our weekly French lessons with Madame Walsh, we will be learning about colours, numbers, days of the week and animals. 

 

PE:

In PE with Mr Scott, we will be developing our football and handball skills. 

 

Music:

In Music this term with Mr Bellingham and Mr Oakton children will be learning to sing a variety of melodies and use the voice as an instrument.
