Spring Term

Spring Term

We have lots of exciting activities planned for the Spring Term in Foundation Stage 2.

Spring Term 1 - Our topic will be 'Can you have a picnic on the moon?' In this topic, we will be learning all about Space. We will look more at different planets, learn about the moon and sun and look at space travel.

Spring Term 2 -  Our topic will be 'Should I help Farmer Duck?' In this topic, we will be learning all about the farm. We will learn about different animals on the farm, what farmers do and what products are produced on the farm.

Check back in the Spring Term to see pictures of our learning adventures!

French: Mardi Gras

In French, we learnt about Mardi Gras and how it is usually celebrated in France. We then made our own carnival Mardi Gras masks.

Outdoor Time: Spotting Flowers

We were very excited to spot the flowers growing in our outdoor area. We enjoyed discussing what we could see and looking closely at the flowers.

Phonics: Tricky Trigraphs

To help us learn some of us our tricky trigraphs in phonics we practised writing them using tissue paper.

Maths: Measuring

In Maths, we worked on measuring items using cubes. We measured the length of the sunflowers and identified the tallest and shortest sunflowers.

Literacy: Alien Visit

We were very surprised to find an alien had been in our classroom! We enjoyed learning more about our visitor and helped him complete a number of missions. We helped him put on his coat so he wasn't cold on Earth, helped him fix his spaceship, wrote  questions to him, taught him about Earth and learnt about Venus where he was from.

Children's Mental Health Week

As part of Children's Mental Health week, we thought about what makes us happy.

Phonics: Tricky Words

In Phonics, we looked at the tricky word my. We practised writing it lots using chalk to help us remember the correct spelling.

Fun In The Snow

We have enjoyed watching the snow fall and playing outside in it.

Fun Outdoors

We love having outdoor time each day. We like developing our physical skills, playing imaginative games, exploring the natural environment and spending time with our friends.

Home Learning

We are really pleased with all the effort that the children at home have been putting into their learning. We have created a display to showcase some of the super work that has been going on at home.

Outdoor Learning

We love getting the opportunity to explore our outdoor area each day. See pictures of some of the activities we have been doing outdoors below:

Space Themed Art Work

We have created lots of fantastic alien and space themed art work in class using a range of different materials. We have displayed them on our class window so everyone walking past can see our fantastic creations. We have loved seeing the children share these with their parents and carers.

Bike Riding

We love playing on the bikes outdoors. We have lots of fun riding with our friends and developing our physical skills. See pictures of us enjoying time on the bikes below:
