Weekly Updates

WC 09.05.22

English - This week in English, we have been completing actvities based on our new class text, Beegu. We received a letter from Beegu asking for our help to get her home! We decided to think of a range of questions that we needed to ask Beegu to help us gather enough information to be able to send her home. We talked about feelings and how she might be feeling while on planet Earth and used our descriptive skills to create a 'lost' poster for Beegu to try to get as much help for her as we could. Luckily, with our help, Beegu was able to get home safely to her mum and dad.

Maths - This week in Maths, we have started our new topic of multiplication. We recapped counting in 2's, 5's and 10's and began to look at making equal groups when given a number to 50.

Geography - This week in Geography, we have been learning about our country. We identified where Great Britain was on a map of the world, talked about the four main countries in Britain and discussed which continent Great Britain is in.

Science - This week in Science, we have been exploring the changes that are happening all around us as we move from Winter to Spring and from Spring into Summer. We recapped out Autumn Term learning about changes from Autumn to Winter and used that knowledge to help us discuss and identify changes from Winter to Spring. We went on a hunt for signs of Spring around the playground and recorded all the signs we found in our books.

English - This week in English we have been continuing our learning with our class book, Beegu. We created a friend for Beegu while she is stuck on our plant and used adjectives and similes to describe this friend. We also thought about Beegu's feelings during her time on earth and why she might have been feeling these things. We then described what Beegu's home planet might like look using adjectives, similes and using 'and' to extend our sentences.

Maths - This week in Maths, we have been looking at equal groups, creating equal groups and adding equal groups. We then moved onto making arrays and did a lot of work on finding out what rows and columns are.

Art - In Art this week, we recreated some of the artwork by our focus artist; Kandinsky. We looked at the shapes and bold colours he used and tried to recreate this in our own work.

Geography - This week in Geography we have been making comparisons between towns and countries. We discussed what we might see in the country and in a town and what might occur in both.
