We have lots of exciting activities planned for the Autumn Term in Foundation Stage 2. We can't wait for children to begin the next stage of their learning journey with us.
Autumn Term 1 - Our topic will be 'Who are we?' In this topic, we will be looking at our skills and our families. We will be exploring our new classroom and doing lots of learning outdoors. We will also look at places that are important to us and local places of importance. We will also be looking closely at woodland environments and animals that live there.
Autumn Term 2 - Our topic will be 'Would I rather live somewhere hot or cold?' In this topic, we will be learning about hot and cold places in the world and animals that live in these places. We will learn about the different seasons in the UK and observe changes in our own environment.
Have a look below to see what we have been busy learning about!
We have had a very busy week this week. We have attended the Winter Wonderland, had a movie night and enjoyed some reading time in the library.
Children In Need
Today we dressed up and donated £1 to support Children In Need. We completed lots of Pudsey activities throughout the day and enjoyed learning all about how people support the charity.
Today we discussed the properties of 2D shapes and made shape pictures.
This week we have been exploring our new outside equipment and enjoying relaxing in our leaf pool.
We have enjoyed our new Post Office role play area and exploring all of our new active learn resources.
Rocking out for Rockstar Day
The children really enjoyed dressing up for Rockstar Day.
Last Week of Autumn Term 1
We have had a fantastic last week, children have attended the Halloween disco and played lots of our new outdoor games. It was wonderful to see the games that children play at home too.
Literacy and Maths
This week in Literacy we have been spotting letters in the environment, we have then practiced writing our names. In Maths we have been building matching towers.
Enjoying being outside
We have really enjoyed being outside this week and it has been wonderful to listen to the children's imagination. The children have made dinosaur swamps, played football, rescued animals from the sea and had lots of fun at baby group.
Imagination gone wild
This week we have had a home challenge to use our imagination. Lots of children have used their imagination outside pretending to be different characters, inside creating magnificent pieces of art work finally through play, building lots of different items.
This morning we are investigators outside in the soil ! We have found ‘Superworm’. We talked about the different size and shapes and how ‘superworm’ is strong like in the story.
We've had a wonderful week reading lots of woodland themed books and the children have really enjoyed dressing up as woodland creatures. We have been practicing our drawing skills by following step-by-step tutorial videos. The children created some fantastic pictures of Bluey. Many children have been using their imagination outside to create their very own laptops and phones. They have been using them to talk to people in different countries and learn new languages. This week in Maths we have been continuing to count by using different objects. We have taken our learning outside and counted trees, stones and pebbles. In Literacy we have been describing the owl babies and thinking about what they would be feeling when their mummy left to find food. Finally, in PE we have been practicing our balancing skills and trying out different movement on the apparatus. Our First Week in F2
We have had a very busy first week in Foundation 2, for some children it is their first week at Norbridge Academy so they have spent the week settling in and exploring their new classroom and outside area. We have also spent the week getting to know each other and talking about our own families. The children have drawn and painted pictures of their families and used different materials to build houses. We have started to read our focus text 'Owl Babies' and chatted about different emotions. We have explored our outdoor area, made chocolate cakes in the sand, unlocked hidden secrets inside logs, completed very tricky Maths challenges in the water (we never knew there were so many different ways to get water out of a tub) and had so much fun playing bowling in the garden. We love that our school days are full of this much adventure! We are really looking forward to next week where we will be entering the wonderful woods, spotting woodland creatures and maybe some fairies and pirates.
