Spring 1: Urban Environment. 

Location: Name and locate the seven continents. Introduce the three urban environments we will be studying: London, Cardiff and Hong Kong. Locate these countries on a world map and identify which continents they are in.

Place: London, Cardiff and Hong Kong. What do we consider an urban environment to be?

Human and Physical: Discuss key vocabulary (coast, river, city, town, house, shop). Study before and after maps, looking at how humans have transformed locations into urban environments over time.

Skills and Fieldwork: Use aerial photographs and plan perspectives to recognise key landmarks. Devise and compare simple maps of the cities and create a key. Use compass directions and directional language to state where the three cities are in relation to one another.
