Maths Lessons
WB 14.12.20
We have continued with our learning on fractions this week. We have developed the skills to add and subtract fractions, both with common and different denominators.
WB 7.12.20 - Fractions
In our maths lessons this week, we have been learning how to compare and order fractions with different denominators. We have been applying the knowledge of our multiplication tables to help us find common denominators. At the end of the week, we began to practise adding and subtracting fractions.
WB 30.11.20 - Fractions
This week, we started our work on fractions. We began by using a fraction wall to help us identify equivalent fractions, before applying our multiplication and division skills. Then, we started to simplify fractions, before learning how to convert improper to mixed numbers.
WB 23.11.20 - Long Multiplication
In our arithmetic lesson this week, we revised our understanding of long multiplication and practised multiplying three and four digit numbers by two digits, using the formal written method for multiplication.
WB 16.11.20 - Factors, Multiples, Prime Numbers, Square and Cube Numbers.
In our maths lessons this week, we have been learning how to identify factors and multiples of whole numbers. To end the week, we reminded ourselves of prime numbers, square numbers and cube numbers, before using BODMAS to solve multi-step problems. Take a look at some pictures from when we found multiples and common multiples.
WB 9.11.20 - Long Division
In our maths lessons this week, we have been practising the long division method. Use the video to help you understand and practise this method:
WB 2.11.20 - Short Division
In our maths lessons this week, we have been practising the short division method.
WB 12.10.20 - Mental Arithmetic
This week, we have been working on our mental arithmetic strategies and have practised answering some SATs-style questions.
WB 5.10.20 - Long Multiplication
In our maths lessons, we have been applying formal written methods for multiplication. We have been practising how to use long multiplication to multiply three and four digit numbers by two-digit numbers.
WB 28.9.20 - Column Addition and Subtraction
In our maths lessons, we have been applying formal written methods for addition and subtraction. We have been practising adding and subtracting numbers with and without exchanging and we have been solving multi-step and word problems too.
WB 21.9.20 - Rounding
Rounding has been the focus of our maths lessons this week. We have neen learning how to round to the nearest 10, 100, 1,000, 10,000 and 100,000.
WB 14.9.20 - Negative Numbers
In our arithmetic session, we focused on negative numbers. We remembered that negative numbers are numbers below 0 and that they have a 'minus' sign in front of them to help us see that they are negative.
WB 7.9.20 - Number and Place Value
In our maths lessons this week, we have been able to recognise numbers to ten million, recapping how to recognise numbers to 100,000 and a million. At the end of the week, we used place value grids to help us compare and order whole numbers up to ten million.
WB 1.9.20 - Revisiting Previous Learning
For maths this week, we played a multiplication and division game with our partners and we practised using place value to answer questions.
