Autumn Term 2022
What was it like to live in Elizabethan times?
Does everybody have the same equal opportunities in terms of how they live?
In Autumn Term 1, we will be using the focus text, 'My Friend Walter' to write contrasting diary entries. In Autumn Term 2, we will be writing an alternative ending to the wordless picture book, 'The Arrival' and writing balanced arguments in response to our enquiry question.
This term, we will be recapping our understanding of place value and revising strategies to solve addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems. As well as this, we will be developing our understanding of fractions and learning about position and direction.
In Autumn Term 1, we will be identifying and naming the main parts of the human circulatory system and we will even be dissecting a heart! In Autumn Term 2, we will be classifying living things into groups according to their characteristics.
During Autumn Term 1, we will be finding out what life was like during the Elizabethan era and learning about the impact of the Spanish Armada.
In Autumn Term 2, we will learn how trading nations are interdependent and identify the global importance of natural resources.
'Aiming High' and 'Our World' are our two themes for the Autumn Term. In Autumn Term 1, we will be setting ourselves targets for the new academic year and we will be discussing what makes a positive learner. In Autumn Term 2, we will be thinking about what makes a good team and learning about significant events such as: Black History Week and Remembrance.
In Autumn Term 1, we will be learning about Tolerance and Respect and in Autumn Term 2, we will be learning how different religions respond to global issues.
'Living in the Wider World' is the theme for our learning this term. We will begin to recognise the importance of human rights and we will understand what it means to be part of a community.
Art and Design:
In Autumn Term 1, we will sculpt with clay and use clay tools to make a model monkey. In Autumn Term 2, we will create a mixed-media piece of the London landscape.
This term, we will be baking our own Christmas ginger biscuits to sell at our Christmas fayre.
The focus for our learning this term is 'Online Safety'.
In our weekly lessons with Madame Walsh, we will be learning how to respond to classroom requests and identifying differences in the UK and France.
Mr Scott will continue to teach us PE. In Autumn Term 1, we will be developing our athletics skills. In Autumn Term 2, we will be playing different invasion games, such as basketball.
