Our science curriculum has been created around the programmes of study for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. All children have the opportunities to work scientifically and learn about a wide variety of scientists and inventors.
Children in Foundation Stage 1 and 2 cover a broad range of concepts through the 'Knowledge and Understanding of the World' area of the Development Matters framework. This is planned and delivered through highly personalised, objective-led planning and weekly activities, as well as through ongoing continuous provision opportunities. Our linked trips and blogging events also promote science learning throughout the year.
We aim for a cross-curricular approach to teaching science and some areas of learning link directly with our focus texts for each year group. At Norbridge Academy, we aim for children to have wider opportunities linked directly to the national curriculum. Our outdoor learning activities create the opportunity for children to build on skills and knowledge taught in science, as well as planning for children to have a positive impact on our outdoor area.
